Nickolas James – Leigh’s Syndrome

It all starts with an email or phone call to me, “My cousin had referred me over to your website.  Which I’m so happy she did just that b/c your work is beautiful.  I am wondering whether or not you would be able to help me out with a family portrait sometime in early April.  This would be a gift for my father’s 70th birthday.”
This email or phone call starts our relationship, not just a working relationship but a caring friendship.

A few days ago I heard the news that a client of mine’s little baby was diagnosed with a rare mitochondrial disease called Leigh’s Syndrome, a rapidly degenerative and terminal condition.
Once I found out I went on line & search
Leigh’s Syndrome & I can not even imagine what it would be like to hear that your 8 month old is diagnosed with a rare disease considered terminal. “What do you do, how could this happen, why my child?”

I wanted to share this with you all in hopes you can somehow help their family.
Today I found out that they started a fundraiser in honor of Nicky & also a blog of their fight to save their son.
So please take the time today to read Nicky’s store & help this family in need.

Here are some of the pictures from their session it was centered around her father & the whole family but we were able to sneak a few of Nicky in.

My thoughts & prayers are with your family.

nancy ruhana - thank you so much, Miranda, for the lovely sentiments on our grandson, Nicky. Every day since this horrible journey has begun for us, we have been amazed and awed by the outpouring of kind thoughts, gestures and prayers from friends, family, acquaintances and strangers. It means so much to us and our whole family that so many people care about our sweet little baby. Thank you again. Nancy Ruhana
