I got to spend a lot of my time with the amazing Winter, while in Arizona.  In our many talks about life in general, she taught me a lot about Arizona.  In one of our talks, she was telling me about a species of cactus. This cactus only grows to be 3 ft tall; it’s whole LIFE, then dies.  As we were talking, I was comparing it to my business.  I don’t want to be that cactus.  In my business, I want to grow into something amazing.  My next thought was how to get there and this is what I came up with; be open, listen and learn.  My biggest thought is to, except that things go wrong and keep trying.  Like the Chinese proverb says, “fall 7 times, stand up 8.”

Later that day, I photographed Scott and Grace’s engagement session, with new eyes and this is what came out of my many thoughts.

I could feel the chemistry between them, and I was a part of it.  Pretty amazing when you just let yourself go.

I can still hear Grace’s laugh….oh how I can not wait for their wedding!!!

Their smiles are so contagious!!!!

September can not come soon enough!! That is also when I will be holding my second free wedding contest!! So watch out!!

Facebook has a funny way of reconnecting people, it really helped with Shelby and I.

Last month I had the pleasure of going to Chicago where Shelby and Micah live to photography their engagement session!

It was my first time meeting Micah and was blown away by the fact that he is a youth pastor!  He is very into the church and even asked Shelby’s family for her hand in marriage! Quite the catch! Shelby is quite the catch as well, she is a graphic designer and dabbles in photography too!! Her work is amazing!!

Bryan asked for Annette’s hand in marriage at his parents cottage in Prudenville, MI after three and a half years of dating. He knew she was THE ONE.

When they contacted me about my photography I asked where they would like their engagement pictures? Any place that has special meaning to who you are as a couple?

Their answer was perfect, his parents cottage.

I had met Jon a few times before and whenever they were together you could feel their LOVE.  I always think of this speech from the movie “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin” -

“Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being “in love” which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.”

This past weekend I had the honor of photographing Danielle and Chad’s engagement session in their home town of Muskegon, Michigan.  We started the session around 10:30 am at the pier where Chad proposed to Danielle.  Lake Michigan was the prefect place to start the day!

As the day went on I got to know Chad and Danielle a lot better! They first contacted me during my Free Wedding Contest and I was excited when they decided to book with me!  They have been dating since high school and even attended college together!

The weather was perfect even though Danielle was hoping for a snowy engagement session!  They were great sports even though I make up lame jokes! At this point I believe Danielle was laughing at her mother who had decided to sit in the middle of the icey walk way trying to hold back their dog Remington!

During lunch I found out that Danielle and Chad have traveled quite bit all over the US.  I also found out Chad enjoys playing hockey, hunting and fishing, which I can now say I know an awful lot about ice fishing! Thanks Chad for putting up with all of my crazy questions!!!

After heading over to a park we found the SNOW Danielle had been wanting!!! The perfect way to end their engagement session.

I had a great time! I can not wait for their wedding August 14!

I met Heidi at a bridal show & a few months later she came in for a consult.  We hit it off & I couldn’t wait to meet this A she had been talking about! 
As a photographer I am a big preacher of seeing each other before the ceremony & I was so excited when H told me they were planning on doing just this!!

The first time I saw A – I thought “WOW is he TALL!”

They were constantly laughing & poking at each other.  I always find it adorable to see the little inside jokes come out while photographing couples. They had a few!

I was transferring over their session & came across these beauties!!

We started at 8 am to get the perfect lighting at the Garden of the Gods & then headed over to Red Rock Park.  It was a little cold but totally worth it…see for yourself!

In June, I met up with K & L at Greenfield Village for their engagement session.  GFV is also where they are getting married this SUNDAY!!
I can not wait to capture their wedding day!! 
We spend the whole afternoon laughing, they are so good together.
